On the fertile slopes of Mount Kenya, where mist sweeps over rows of coffee plants and the red volcanic soil pulses with nutrients, we find the Karimikui Washing Station – the heart of this exceptional coffee.
The station is run by the Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative Society, a cooperative of over 1,000 small-scale coffee farmers. Each farmer works with small plots of an average of 0.5 hectares – a size that allows for an almost artisanal focus on quality.
