When you want to experience specialty coffee as it should be. Here, we roast to highlight its origins in the best possible way.
Light roast specialty coffee is a delicious coffee beverage that has become increasingly popular with coffee enthusiasts around the world. This coffee is made by roasting coffee beans at a lower temperature than traditional roast coffee, resulting in a lighter roast and a more subtle flavor profile.
The lighter roast of specialty coffee produces a milder flavor profile that is less bitter and more balanced than dark roast coffee. This makes it a popular choice for those seeking a more acidic, fruity or funky cup of coffee.
What is light roast coffee?
Light roast coffee is one of the most sought-after varieties of coffee on the market today. With a mild and balanced flavor, it is a perfect choice for coffee enthusiasts looking for a cup of coffee without too much bitterness. The coffee is usually light brown in color and has a sweet, mild flavor. Sometimes it can be funky, sour and completely different. Here, the roast is done to highlight the origin or processing of the coffee beans. A sweet cup of coffee always goes well, right?
What does light roast coffee taste like?
The flavor notes in light roast coffee varieties can vary depending on the origin of the bean, but it is usually described as light and fresh, with flavors such as apple, citrus, strawberry or honey. Light roast coffee often has a more pronounced taste of what is called a "fruity tone" compared to dark roast coffee varieties.
How is light roast coffee made?
The roasting takes place at temperatures, usually between 185-210°C. Roasting time varies depending on the desired flavor and result, but light roast coffee is typically roasted at our coffee shop for 8-11 minutes. After roasting is complete, the coffee beans are quickly cooled to prevent further roasting. Light roast coffee is known for its exciting flavors and can be enjoyed in many ways, but we recommend brewing by hand in a V60 or Chemex!
What is Specialty Coffee?
Specialty Coffee is coffee of the highest quality, grown under optimal conditions and carefully selected for its unique flavor profiles. In order for a coffee to be classified as specialty coffee, it must receive a rating of at least 80 points out of 100 (on a scale of 0-100) from a certified coffee expert, a so-called Q-Grader. The rating is based on factors such as flavor, aroma, body and acidity. Specialty coffee is often grown on small-scale farms where the focus is on sustainability, environmentally friendly methods and a close relationship between growers and coffee roasters. This results in coffee with exceptional and complex flavors, often with unique notes depending on the origin, process and roasting.
