Las Lajas – specialty coffee from Central Valley, Costa Rica

The Las Lajas farm is located in the lush Central Valley of Costa Rica, an area known for its stable climate conditions, nutritious soil and excellent altitude – ideal for high-quality coffee.

The family-owned farm has built its reputation over the years by focusing on sustainable farming and quality-driven production.

Microclimate and terroir

The terrain around Las Lajas creates a unique microclimate where:

  • the days are warm

  • the nights are cool

  • the humidity is even

This causes the coffee berries to ripen more slowly and develop richer aromas – one of the key factors behind Las Lajas' fantastic flavour profile.

Cultivation and sustainability

At Las Lajas, the coffee is grown under a shaded roof, which:

  • protects the plants from direct sun

  • stabilizes soil moisture

  • creates a balanced microclimate

The cultivation takes place with great respect for the environment, with the focus on both preserving the quality of the soil and ensuring that the coffee reaches its full potential.

Harvest and process

The coffee berries are hand-picked when they are optimally ripe and undergo a careful selection process before being processed.

Las Lajas is naturally processed , which means that the berries are dried whole before the pulp is removed. This gives:

  • deep fruitiness

  • rich sweetness

  • silky mouthfeel

The Natural process allows the sugar from the pulp to really affect the bean, adding more complexity and body to the cup.

Flavor profile – fruity and elegant

In the cup, Las Lajas offers a rich and generous taste experience:

  • Cherries – juicy and distinct fruitiness

  • Plum jam – round and sweet

  • Dark cocoa – structure and balance

  • Caramel & golden raisins – long, smooth finish

Together, this results in a cup that is powerful yet elegant – perfectly balanced and easy to enjoy.
