How can decaffeinated coffee taste SO good?

Unfortunately, many people have had bad experiences with traditional decaf coffee, which often tastes flat, bitter, or watered down. This is because older decaffeination methods use high heat, high pressure, or harsh chemicals that destroy the coffee bean's natural oils and flavors.

For Nattuggla, we have chosen coffee beans that have undergone one of the most gentle and natural methods in the coffee world: the Sugarcane method .

How the Sugarcane Method (Water EA) works:

1. Natural origin: The method combines pure spring water from high mountains with Ethyl Acetate (EA) of completely natural origin, extracted from sugar cane. (Did you know that EA is found naturally in all coffee berries, fruits and vegetables?)

2. Gentle steaming: The beans are gently steamed to open up their pores.

3. Natural rinsing: The coffee is rinsed repeatedly with the spring water and the sugarcane-based EA solution, which binds the caffeine and lifts it out of the bean.

4. Preserved structure: By avoiding harsh heat and extreme pressure, the coffee bean retains its natural structure, its oils and all its complex flavors.

5. Perfect finish: The beans are then gently dried to 10–12% humidity and sealed with a natural wax with a neutral profile that protects the aromas all the way to your cup.

The result? A magical coffee where you would never guess the caffeine is gone!

Origin & Flavor Profile: From the mountains of Colombia to your cup

Night Owl has its roots in the famous Huila region of Colombia , known for producing some of the world's most balanced and elegant coffee beans. The beans grow at a high altitude between 1,400 and 1,800 meters above sea level, which gives them a natural sweetness and freshness.

With an impressive Cup Score of 84, Nattuggla plays in a league of its own among decaffeinated coffee beans.

What does Night Owl taste like?

The cup offers a lovely, round fullness with clear flavors of rich chocolate , roasted nuts and warm caramel , balanced by a refreshing and refreshing hint of lemonade .
