Do you want an iced coffee that is still packed with complex flavors, nice acidity and lovely aromas? Then Iced V60 (also known as Japanese Iced Coffee ) is the absolute king of summer drinks!
Unlike Cold Brew which steeps in cold water for many hours, you brew an Iced V60 with hot water directly over ice. The hot water extracts all the amazing aromas and oils of the coffee bean, while the immediate cooling over the ice "locks in" the flavors and produces an incredibly clear, clean and fresh cup.
Here is Hälla Kafferosteri's favorite recipe for a perfect Iced V60!

32 grams of coffee: Grind just as you would a regular hand brew.
200 grams of ice: Clear ice cubes in the serving jug.
300 grams of hot water: Approximately 92–94 °C (let the water boil and rest for approximately 1 minute).
Equipment: Hario V60 funnel, paper filter and a jug/glass carafe.
Place the paper filter in your V60 funnel and rinse it thoroughly with hot water to remove any paper taste (then pour out the rinse water). Measure out 200 grams of ice and place directly in your serving jug under the funnel. Then add 32 grams of coffee to the filter and shake gently to make the coffee bed even.
Place the entire set on a scale and zero it. Carefully pour in 300 grams of hot water in batches:
Bloom (0–45 sec): Pour in about 60–80 grams of water so that all the coffee is wet. Let it "bloom" for 45 seconds so that carbon dioxide is released.
Main brewing: Pour the rest of the water in circular, calm movements until you reach a total of 300 grams of water .
Tip: When the hot coffee drips over the ice cubes, it cools down quickly. This magically preserves the coffee's natural fruitiness and acidity!
Once all the water has flowed through the funnel, remove it. Gently swirl the serving jug for a few seconds so that the last of the ice melts with the hot coffee and the drink becomes completely smooth and ice cold.
Fill a nice glass with a few fresh ice cubes, pour and enjoy!
Choose the right coffee bean: Iced V60 really highlights light roasted beans with fruity, berry or citrusy notes. Check out our light roasted coffee varieties here: https://hallakafferosteri.com/kaffe/ljusrosat-kaffe
Adjust the grind: If the coffee flows through too quickly and tastes bland, grind a little finer next time. If it takes too long and becomes bitter, grind a little coarser.
Fresh ice cubes: Since 200 grams of your finished drink consists of melted ice, water quality is super important. Use fresh ice from good tap water!
