These coffees have been exported through private exporter Tariku Kare. Tariku Kare Exporters is located in two different regions of Ethiopia, Sidamo and West Arsi, where they also operate their own mill in both locations. Tariku Kare Exporters has been recognized by the Africa Fine Coffee Association for the outstanding quality of coffee they have supplied over the years. The Tariku coffee farms are located at high altitudes, between 1900 and 2150 meters above sea level, which is a key factor in growing G1 coffee beans. Generally, coffee is grown at 1900-2200 meters above sea level and processed at 1900-2100 meters above sea level. Coffee from these areas is commonly known as Sidama coffee and offers distinct and unique cup profiles. Generally, the coffees are sweet and balanced, with spicy/vinegar notes and the right acidity.
These coffees are harvested from October to January, with selective handpicking to achieve the highest quality in the cup. The variety is a native heirloom, planted in fertile, reddish brown, well-drained soil. The sieve size of these beans is 14+. The coffee is processed as G1 naturals and washed thoroughly - with direct spring water.
Tariku Coffee takes social responsibility by investing back into its community. Job opportunities are created for the local citizens, especially women, and social welfare. They have 20 permanent employees and 600 workers. Tariku Kare donates a portion of the proceeds to charity by providing school supplies to children from low-income families and offering financial support to the families. In addition, Tariku offers on-farm training to help farmers achieve high-quality coffee to stimulate the production of specialty coffees, and they have also created a platform for local growers to help them sell their products nationally.
