The Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative Society oversees the Karimikui Washing Station. It represents over 1,000 smallholder farmers who grow coffee on small plots averaging 0.5 hectares.

This coffee has been processed at the Karimikui Coffee Factory in Kenya, part of the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society. The cooperative, founded in 1966, brings together around 600 smallholder farmers on the slopes of Mount Kenya, where coffee is grown at an altitude of around 1650 metres. The red, volcanic soil and stable climate create good conditions for quality coffee. The main varieties grown here are classic Kenyan varieties such as SL28 and SL34. The cherries are hand-picked, sorted and fermented overnight before being washed and sun-dried for 8–14 days. The result is a clear and fruity coffee with a full body and a long, dense aftertaste. The Rungeto cooperative is actively working on quality improvements and sustainable practices, including through water recycling and carefully developed processing processes.
