Coffee Myths & Truths: Big Blog Series | Hälla Coffee Roastery

|4/09, 2026

Hold on to your coffee cup: Next week we'll bust the coffee myths!

How should coffee really be stored? Is dark roast stronger than light roast? And does your morning cup really dehydrate you?

There are an incredible number of perceptions, old wives' tales, and pure gut feeling in the world of coffee. Some are true, while others are myths that refuse to die.

That's why we at Hälla Kafferosteri have decided to clear out the coffee jungle! Starting next week, we'll be running a fast-paced 5-part blog series where we'll challenge popular coffee claims every day from Monday to Friday.

This week's schedule: Myths & Truths

We combine facts, science and a whole lot of passion for really good artisan coffee. Here's what to expect this week:

  • Monday: "The refrigerator is coffee's best friend" – Myth or truth?

We figure out how coffee should actually be stored to retain its fantastic aromas (and avoid tasting like yesterday's leftovers).

  • Tuesday: Does dark roast contain more caffeine than light roast?

The myth that refuses to die! We explain what actually happens to the caffeine molecules during the roasting process.

  • Wednesday: Is espresso always "stronger" than brewed coffee?

We clear up the confusion around flavor concentration, caffeine content per volume, and what actually gives you the biggest caffeine hit.

  • Thursday: Does coffee really dehydrate you?

Many people believe that each cup of coffee requires three glasses of water. What does modern science actually say about coffee's diuretic effect?

  • Friday: "Specialty Coffee is just snobbery"

We end the week with an honest coffee dialogue. Why does artisanal coffee cost a little more – and why are quality, traceability and fair conditions worth every penny?

Join in and enjoy!

Coffee stirs up emotions, and we love that. Have you believed any of these myths yourself, or is there a coffee myth you'd like us to address?
