A farm where science meets passion
Spanning 43 manzanas, Finca Noruega is planted with an impressive array of varieties – from classic Bourbon to exclusive Geisha. The estate is part of the Los Naranjos group, led by passionate agronomist Sigfredo Corado, a retired professor from the country’s National School of Agriculture . Under his expertise, the estate has been transformed into a vibrant hub of innovation and local collaboration.
The Renacer Program: The Coffee Farming of the Future
Finca Noruega is not just a coffee farm; it also serves as the base for the Renacer (meaning rebirth ) program . This is a technical field school funded by Raices (Roots) and supported by Catholic Relief Services in El Salvador. Twice a month, coffee farmers gather here on the farm to learn modern and restorative farming methods.
Together with six field technicians, Sigfredo trains local small and medium-sized producers in a program strictly focused on soil health. The philosophy is based on four simple but powerful pillars:
Right source, right dose, right place, right moment.
Currently, 60 committed students are studying at the farm's test fields. Here they have the chance to put theoretical knowledge into practice before applying the sustainable methods to their own fields – something that both saves the earth and maximizes the coffee yield and quality.
Flavor profile:
Lime juice • Wild berries • Tropical fruits • Jam • Earl Grey
Award-winning experimental processing
This specific batch consists exclusively of hand-picked, selectively harvested Pacamara beans (known for their impressive size and complex flavor). After harvesting, the coffee was transported to the drying beds and wet mill at Beneficio San Rafael to undergo a meticulous Natural process (berry drying).
Behind the unique flavor profile is also an exciting international collaboration. Through coffee importer Falcon and Catholic Relief Services, a week-long training was arranged in El Salvador. Carlos Estevez, manager of the Microlot program at the Aruco cooperative in Honduras, was invited to share his deep knowledge of experimental processing.
The result? An instant success! In their very first attempt with these new, advanced processes, sister farm Finca Los Angeles took home 5th place, and Finca Noruega secured an impressive 15th place in the country. This is absolutely world-class coffee.
Quick facts about coffee:
In the cup you are greeted by a fantastic complexity and fullness. Tart and fresh lime juice is perfectly balanced by sweet wild berries, jammy undertones and an elegant finish reminiscent of classic Earl Grey tea. A coffee that simply has to be experienced!
